Annual Harvest Festival 2023

Another successful harvest festival with our community partners, guests, families, and friends!

Upon entering the grounds, guests would sign up and recieve an activity passport. This passport was designed to lead them through the event’s various stations led by members of different local organizations serving our community, our UCSD fellows and interns, our volunteers, and OVGG’s staff.

Throughout the stations guests had the opportunity to learn more about the work local organizations are doing to support our environment and our residents. The organizations in attendance were: Family Health Center of San Diego, Inner City Athletic Youth Program, San Diego Bird Alliance, Wild Ones, and Food2Soil.

Guests also had the chance to participate in various activities as seen below!

The Young Environmental Justice Scientist Passport leading guests to all of the fun activities.

We had a Food World Map at the meditation garden where participants used their knowledge to place fruits and vegetables on a map to note where they originated from.

The Young Environmental Justice Advocates Academy Ambassadors led an Insect Identification activity.

3 arts and crafts stations: pumpkin and lantern decoration using the art form of flower pressing, Marigold flower crafting, and building a seed bomb.

All guests got to take home all the valuable information and resoruces, their crafts, and enjoyed a wonderful time together eating elotes prepared by our long time volunteers.
